3.) Anther and Filament

This is a picture of a common daylily which shows the anther and filament of a stamen. This is where the pollen of a flower is stored and produced. The anther holds the pollen while the filament, a long stem-like structure, holds the anther up so pollinators can reach it. The anther can either be placed at the end of the filament (as pictured) or towards the center.

2.) Amniotic Eggs

This is a picture of amniotic eggs found in the courtyard of Waterford Mott. Amniotic eggs contain all of the necessary components for an embryo to survive and hatch. These eggs are composed of a hard or leathery shell, an amnion, and a fluid-filled amniotic sac. Amniotic eggs are produced by birds, reptiles, and egg-laying mammals.

1.) Gymnosperm Leaf

This is a picture of pine needles which are an example of a gymnosperm leaf. Pine needles belong to a group of gymnosperms named conifers which use cones instead of fruits and flowers to protect their seeds. This is opposed to angiosperms which protect their seeds with flowers and/or fruits. Other examples of gymnosperm leaves are spruce, fir, and hemlock needles.
